Rolls-Royce Ghost

AThis is one of the cars from the Rolls-Royce stand at 2014 Geneva motor car. From the production-run of Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II it is so to speak a ‘pre-series car’; from November 2014 onward Rolls-Royce’s dealer network started first deliveries of what was the successor to the 2009 launched Rolls-Royce Ghost. As regards external appearance it needed certain concentration to identify up-dates because the designer Giles Taylor had been permitted but limited modifications.   g".

Taylor had been appointed Head Exterior Design from February 2012 onward and during that year became promoted to the position of Design Director. Hence it was inevitable – whether indeed justified or not an “never an official theme” – that his name was connected with gossip about a nasty incident: When the Rolls-Royce Ghost had been subject to a facelift that included re-shaping of headlamps and front wings; thus the model showed a new face. When at almost the same time the new fastback coupé Rolls-Royce Wraith was launched as an extension to the range, the new model did miss such improvements; it was entered into the market with the old-style front. Within a fairly short period the Rolls-Royce Wraith was altered to meet the 4-doors sibling's level however such action, of course, had caused considerable investment.

Regardless of what happened behind the stage the Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II received a favourable welcome with customer. The cars that were exhibited at 2014 Geneva had been the manufacturer’s clear statement as regards the future in customer relations. It was a major intention to increase dialogue with clients to build ‘Customized Cars’ featuring details that wee executed exactly as per a customer’s personal desires. One hint is on this Ghost Series II Extended wheelbase to combine three different sorts of wood with their various grains perfectly accentuated. A further step was the offer to implement, too, inlays in precious metal. In this area and in others there were almost no limitations to comply with individual decisions. It was merely a question if it was technically possible and acceptable as regards legislation, e.g. environmental protection of safety-regulations.
