Rolls-Royce and
Bentley Motor Cars
From the Dawn of the 20th Century into the new Millennium
by Klaus-Josef RoßfeldtThis completely new book was published as a private
edition in September 1998 in three separate editions - German, English and French. The
text covers in detail the development of every model from the 1904 Rolls-Royce 10hp to the
latest V12-engined Silver Seraph and the Bentley Arnage powered by a V8-engine with twin
turbochargers. Previously a subsidiary of Vickers in 1998 Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd. and
Bentley Motors Ltd. have moved under the wings of multinational operating parents. With
its in-depth information and illustrated by 322 colour photographs of impressive quality
(plus three mono photos of historic interest) this is a genuinely stunning book. A variety
of very rare cars and coachwork respectively are shown in detail. Simultaneously with the
English version limited editions have been printed separately in French ROLLS-ROYCE ET
BENTLEY DE L'AUBE DU SIÈCLE AU NOUVEAU MILLÉNAIRE and in German ROLLS-ROYCE UND BENTLEY
AUTOMOBILE VOM ANFANG DES JAHRHUNDERTS BIS INS NEUE JAHRTAUSEND.
The 300+
illustrations are full colour (plus 3 mono-photos of historic interest). Because the book
is a private edition no controller from a publishing company keen on cost-saving was
allowed to express any ideas to limit expenses. Obviously nothing but the finest standard
was accepted. Most of the photos have been specially taken for this 256-pages book and
never appeared in print before.
Hardback 297 x 210 mm, 256 pages, 332 colour photos, 3 b/w photos, Publication:
September 1998, A collector's leather edition - limited to 50 copies - is available
at a price of EUR 186,- plus postage & packing.

Rolls-Royce,
The Classic Elegance
by Lawrence Dalton
(2nd Edition revised by Bernard L. King)Following the success of Rolls-Royce: The Elegance Continues (that was published in the 70ies) Lawrence Dalton compiled
Rolls-Royce, The Classic Elegance and that book was first published in 1987.
Rolls-Royce: The Classic Elegance has been out of print for some years.
Now in this second edition, authority Bernard L. King has radically revised, with thousands of changes and additions, all the captions and the production details of the Silver Wraith, Phantom IV and Phantom V, plus the coachbuilt Silver Dawns, Silver Cloud I, II and III chassis. This task, of course, was facilitated because Bernard L. King utilised his database that encompasses all Bentley and Rolls-Royce motor cars produced up until 1965. For the first time, the data is presented in a standardised format and will prove invaluable to the enthusiast who wants to identify the body on a particular chassis along with its date of completion, first owner etc. Other book references for each coachbuilt car are added for the first time and this will be immensely useful for tracing further photographs and information.
Over five hundred illustrations, cover practically every different body design mounted on post-war Rolls-Royce up to 1986. Photographs of interiors and some coachbuilders’ drawings are worth mentioning
The author and the editor:
The late Lawrence Dalton had been a life long motor enthusiast who completed his first book in 1967 and then founded a company, Dalton Watson, to publish it, Rolls-Royce, The Classic Elegance has been out of print for some years.
Bernard L. King is well known for the books from his series “Complete Classics” which are considered as “Standard Reference Books”. The utmost care he invests in compiling and editing books is mirrored in the up-dating of this book, too.

photographs plus a 16-page colour section, 2nd Edition published 2005,

BENTLEY, A Legend Reborn
by Graham RobsonFrom its creation in 1919 to the present renaissance under VW ownership the story of Bentley is told,
the story of one of Britain’s most distinguished marques. The company and the cars produced there changed over the years.
The vintage racing Bentleys of the 20ies were another breed than “The Silent Sports Car” designed after the take-over by Rolls-Royce.
The turbocharged Bentley saloon, coupés and convertibles were highlights of the post-war period.
The lavishly illustrated book is the first to trace the tenuous link between Walter Owen Bentley,
the company’s founder and its modern heritage. Every new model (including the new Bentley Continental GT)
and every technical advance (including recent victory at Le Mans) is covered.
The author:
Graham Robsonis a motoring writer of outstanding reputation, with some 35 books
to his credit. He has twice won the Guild of Motoring Writers’ Montagu Trophy
and is a two-times recipient of the Cugnot Award conferred by the Society of
Automotive Historians.
Specifications:
Cloth Hardback 280 x 200 mm, 168 pages, 150 illustrations, Publication: 2003,

Rolls-Royce
and Bentley: Spirit of Excellence
by Jonathan WoodHere is the story of
Rolls-Royce motor cars including those Bentley models that were made after the
take-over of that company. Fair warning: the pre-war models have not been
given much room - Jonathan Wood clearly concentrated on the model series that
were produced after World War II. This was the time, when Rolls-Royce had to
react to altered market conditions and developed models for a wider clientele.
The men behind the cars are profiled. Buying hints are given and there are
driving impressions of all the principal models. This lavishly illustrated
book shows many fine colour photos.

BENTLEY - 50 Years of the Marque
by Johnnie Green (with updates by Peter Hageman, Bernard King and Martin Bennett)
Here is the story of
Rolls-Royce motor cars including those Bentley models that were made after the
take-over of that company. Fair warning: the pre-war models have not been
given much room - Jonathan Wood clearly concentrated on the model series that
were produced after World War II. This was the time, when Rolls-Royce had to

The men behind the cars are profiled. Buying hints are given and there are
driving impressions of all the principal models. This lavishly illustrated

The author:
With the publication of this book. Johnnie Green secured instant recognition as a true authority
on Bentley motor cars. It was an instant success and was reprinted in its original form several times.
Johnnie Green had developed a passion for that marque in his boyhood and has been a Bentley owner
for most of his adult life. As Lawrence Dalton's brother-in-law (Lawrence Dalton was the
founder of Dalton Watson), it seemed entirely appropriate that his passion for Bentley should
match his brother-in-law's passion for Rolls-Royce and in the early 1970s, these two produced
the outstanding books in their time on their specialist subjects.

Bentley
Motors - On The Road
by Bernard L. King
A grand compendium
providing 560 pages of charming and entertaining content. This is a reprint of
magazines published during the 1930s by Bentley Motors describing how owners of
Derby Bentleys toured with their cars during a by-gone era. The first volume
contains the magazines of which 13 had been published, rarely ever has there
been any chance during recent years to obtain one or the other original e.g. at
auction. The magazine articles were often written and photographed by the
Bentley owners themselves. The second volume includes an extensive introduction
which identifies the majority of the cars (information Bentley Motors didn't
provide at the time of publication). Added are exhaustive indices of the cars,
chassis and registration numbers and the locations in which they are
photographed.
The Author:
Bernard King has had a life long passion for Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars, and
is internationally recognised as an expert. He is editor of the series Complete
Classics detailing Rolls-Royce and Bentley production and recently completed the
revision of the Derby-built Bentley section of Johnnie Green's masterpiece,
Bentley - Fifty Years of the Marque.

Celebrating
the 100th Year Anniversary of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars
by Brooklands New Media Ltd.
This is a Special
Commemorative Edition, clearly different from the rich crop of R-R Centenary
publications in 2004. The purpose of this book should be considered against the
background of what this publisher does. Brooklands New Media Group is a
publishing house that specialised in high-quality publications for industries
and corporate customers etc. Independent and client-supported publications are
produced, quite a few are specific corporate projects for ‘Global Players’. Thus
is explained why “Celebrating the 100th Year Anniversary of Rolls-Royce Motor
Cars” is comparable more to a premier lifestyle magazine than to a book in the
true sense of the word and that this publication includes 3rd party advertising.
The story of Rolls-Royce is covered from the very beginning to an outlook on
future developments. Added are highlights (the mascot, the art of coachbuilding,
etc.) which fall in roughly though not seamless chronological order. The large
oversize landscape format (30x42cm or 16 1/5" x11 3/4") and an expensive
5-colour process result in excellent photo reproduction. The new model, the
Rolls-Royce Phantom made at Goodwood, features prominently.
Specifications:
Softcover 300 x 420 mm, 80pages, lavishly illustrated (colour and mono photos),
published 2004
